I had lost a bit of myself and was reeling from the feeling of amputating someone out of my life.Yoga entered my life and lifted depression away, literally. I’d been on medication from 2003 until 2006, and through the daily practice and everything that happened as a consequence (having a teacher care for me, going to workshops, meeting people, going to brunches with other yogis, learning about yogic principles, and so on), I was able to stop taking drugs.Don’t tell my teacher trainer but the mantras and the mudras never really did it for me. I meditate because I grew to love it, but nothing is more powerful to me than unrolling my mat, closing my eyes and breathing. I find myself in movement and this is truly how yoga changed my life forever. I came to yoga because I suffered with bad back pain.
I have been practicing Yoga Asanas regularly since 2012 and started learning about Yoga Philosophy in 2013. My answer states the effect of practice at two levels - Physical (Material) and Conscious (Mind). I would like briefly like to mention basi.
Yoga completely changed my wardrobe, which previously consisted of blacks, purples, jeans, and more blacks. Today, since I am a Kundalini yoga teacher (a yoga style that prefers its practitioners to show up in white) my wardrobe is mainly white, white, and more white (yes, even after Labor Day).

I don’t practice every day anymore, because life gets in the way, and that’s not to say that every day is so great that I don’t need to practice anymore. I will always need to practice. It saved my life! I was suicidal, bulimic, depressed, making poor choices because I didn't care about repercussions, rarely left home. I've regressed a bit (I think it's more reality vs a yoga bliss bubble I had), but I now have found a type of exercise I like (finally).
